News 00

Well I have a nice little update for everyone, I made a new noise EP titled inputoutput. Reviews so far:
Really truly disturbing - like going to throw me into some sort of seisure disturbing.
If there were flashing lights to go with it, I'm certain that it would. The emphasis on the not-quite-on-a-western-scale notes really put me on chalk-board screeching, teeth- grinding edge.... I would get stuck in a very depressed and twisted mood.

In other news I'm working on something more danceable and club friendly, which is gonna take more time. It's gonna be fucking noisy and pounding with flowing leads and stabbing rhythms, possibly some vocals by me.

Edit: Also possibly some remixes of el swingo covers of classic punk songs

Studio Diary 01

Gonna test out a possible way of syncing fl to studiofactory. Record 4 beats of clock pulse on sf, import to fl, turn metronome on, sync clock pulse to metronome. Time consuming, but effective and useful.

Going Analog

Sorry about the lack of posting, I've been pretty busy lately. And by busy I mean coming up with ideas, getting inspired, doing engineer work (as an apprentice, but still) and playing video games(Halo: Reach is fucking awesome, the soundtrack is amazing, and the sound design is to die for.)
On the note of the title: yes I'm trying to go more analog in my music, I just got my first two effects kits from GetLoFi and am planning on getting more kits and PCBs from them, MFOS, and some others (I'll post links in the links section.) My plan is to build a rather large effects/synth rack to use with my computer(s) and instruments I already have doing much of the controlling.

Progress

Hello, sorry I haven't been talking much, some of you were there for my graduation/live show, and I thank you for that.

I got accepted into Recording Connection! WOOO! That means I'll be getting more training in the recording arts... a lot more. Which means that Reality Check is gonna sound way better then a lot of my older stuff.

Anyways, Zinnia and I are still working on Reality Check and I'm almost finished with YCFA180BPM(I'll finish that up tonight.) I've also been working on gathering other musicians to do remixes for the second disk of the limited edition of Reality Check. I'll have a couple of the remixes available to listen to on soundcloud (but not download.) I'm also trying to work on a remix of Xion's theme from KH 358/2 Days, but am having trouble finding good notation of the song.

You'll be hearing a lot more from me now.

Absence

Hello Hyenas,
Sorry about my lack of activity, I've been rather busy with school as of late. I'm starting to get back in the swing of things and working on new tracks (Go look at my Fur Affinity page for a freebie/scrap and some more art.)
I'm getting a bit more equipment and software so expect to hear a few experiments and more work on my personal sound.

workworkworkworkwork

I have a redux of one of my songs and a remix of a Linkin Park song. They were both really fun to do.

Anyways I've got more schoolwork to do this week so I'll be trading off between that, my comics, and music. Don't worry hyenas there'll be more work done on YCFA180BPM by the end of the week.

Another week gone by

A whole week went by and I didn't post. I was definitely working, in fact I've been so busy I haven't been able to post. I've been doing alot of image work (that is figuring out what Broken Playthings' image is.) I also was playing around in live professor with effects for my guitar and vocals. I'm working on a few things today. There may be some freebies and previews of YCFA180BPM.

I ran into this song yesterday and I think it's awesome

(Psst the album (Black Sails at Midnight) would be a great birthday gift for me.)

Evil

I FSCKed a chunk of the songs for YCFA180BPM and made the drums and synths for it. Everything sounds so evil, I love it! I'll work on it more during the week.

In other news, my birthday's in 10 days now!

And in yet more news, I've got a job interview on Thursday, but I'm not holding my breath. Sure my application got accepted, but I'm very different in person. Either way expect me to do some sort of venting scrap this week. That means you hyenas get some free pretties.

I'm not dead

Seriously, I'm just really busy. I promised you guys I'd work on YCFA180BPM this weekend, and I just started to. All the files have been converted to WAVE format, now I'm gonna go eat breakfast and start working on fscking each and every one of them.

Still working on "Zip it and Ship it" so far it sounds good. I need to finish lyrics for it, once that's done I'll record vocals. My music is really starting to sound like Angelspit which is ok, cause I like their stuff, but I need to find my own sound.

Wow there must've been something wrong with me when I said I was almost done with Vandalized Fairytale. I'm gonna drop it for a while before I try it again.
Well The album version of "Vandalized Fairytale" has all been recorded and I just need to come back to it tomorrow to get the mixing all finished up. I'm working on lyrics for other songs.
On that note I'm really not sure how I feel about lyric writing, I love it because it lets me get my feelings into words, but I hate it because it's so tedious and structured.
On a another note I'm gonna get more of YCFA180BPM done this weekend. I expect to have it finished before the summer's over, and plan to release it by All Hallows Eve/Halloween. Don't worry there'll be freebies and scraps along the way for you hyenas.

Woohoo!

So I'm almost done with getting this computer in a usable condition. Just backing up some things in a few places and waiting for my soundcard to come Thursday. once all that's done I'll start working on YCFA180BPM, until then I'll be writing lyrics for my original album and writing down melodies.

On a completely different note, I hate summer. I can't wait for fall, I just love fall and winter, nice and cold (also the colors in fall are amazing.) now what made me think of fall and winter? Well this picture by Tom (Motts) Kirsch.

My comic is about ready to be scanned and I'm experimenting with some new synths. expect some art, freebies, and samples.

Prepare to plug your ears.

Edit:
I'm also working towards getting this
Doepfer Dark Energy US$625

Doepfer mini power unit and case $120

extra oscillator (A110) $200

Doepfer Sub oscillator (a-115) $80

Doepfer Mixer (A-138) $80

extra filter (Doepfer A-102) $115

extra VCA (Doepfer A-132) $80

Doepfer Multiples (A-180) $45
This totals to $1345. I'm saving up for this along with trying to get a job that I can make rent with be able to eat so I can move the fuck out. Now you may be asking yourself "Why the hell should I care?" I respond with "because you like my music and/or art" which is the same reason you're reading. So please ask for commissions, I'm willing to haggle if you think I'm asking too much.
Just so people know, I also dabble in circuit bending and effect building, so if you're willing to pay for parts up front I'll make stuff for you!

Fuck Viruses

So I got a pretty lame virus on my laptop. Seriously it's lame, when I try to start up it says "Password:_" not anything cool like "Hey, I don't like you so why don't you tell me something I want to hear?_"
Anyhu, this means that there have been a couple of changes to my plans. First change: I don't have the time right now to do that remix of "Love Will Find A Way" because I'm transferring all of my backed up files to this computer.
Second change matters more: The lineup for "Your Childhood fscked at 180 BPM" is now:

1. Mickey Mouse March - The Mousketeers
2. Friend like me - Aladdin
3. Beauty & The Beast - Beauty & The Beast
4. A Star is Born - Hercules
5. The Bare(Bear) Necessities - The Jungle Book
6. Hakuna Matata - The Lion King
7. Under the Sea - The Little Mermaid
8. Chim Chim Cher-ee - Mary Poppins
9. Colors of the Wind - Pocahontas
10. Winnie-the-Pooh - Winnie The Pooh
11. Heaven's Light/Hellfire - Hunchback or Notre Dame
12. Some Day My Prince Will Come - Cinderella
13. The Sorcerer's Apprentice - Fantasia 2000
14. (secret)

Well I'd better get back to work on uploading to this comp.

Job Hunting

I don't like it, but I need a bleedin' job so I can move out sooner. Anyways I'll be working on a new song this weekend. Gonna try to make something more angry and less poppy.

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Well this is a first

I've never had a blog before (well not one I stuck to) but finally I have a reason: I'm a musician/audio engineer trying to get off the ground! Woohoo, yeah. Anyhu, I'm writing because I'm new to this and have decided it's best to introduce myself... so if you don't know who I am go here or here. Look, listen, read, enjoy.
